If you’re passionate about supporting children experiencing homelessness, we’d love to hear from you. Our volunteers play an important role in helping us deliver consistent, high-quality frontline support to families living in temporary accommodation.
Our primary volunteering role is as a Playwork Volunteer, supporting our staff to deliver safe, engaging play, arts and sports activities for children aged 12 and under in our hostel-based play clubs. Volunteers help create welcoming spaces where children can relax, build confidence and experience moments of normal childhood away from the stresses of hostel life.
Playwork volunteering can be undertaken by individual volunteers or by employee groups and is ideal for those who enjoy working with children and want to make a direct, hands-on difference.
To ensure consistency and trust for the children we support, Playwork Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of six sessions over six months. All volunteers receive a full induction and Safeguarding training as part of our onboarding process. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role and will be arranged and paid for by CARIS Families.

We also welcome interest from volunteers who can support our work through:
Translation support, helping families with limited English to access information and complete forms
Digital volunteering, including photography to support our communications and storytelling
All volunteering roles are subject to an application process, including an application form and two references. Please contact us via our Contact Form to request an application pack.
Corporate Partnerships
By partnering with CARIS Families, corporates can support practical, frontline work with homeless families while contributing to a future where all families have the space, stability and opportunity they need to flourish, regardless of income or housing status. From sponsoring children’s play and enrichment activities to backing our housing advocacy and homelessness prevention work, corporate partnerships with us offer a meaningful way for companies to turn shared values around building fairer communities into lasting social impact.
If you’d like to discuss ways in which your company could support us we’d love to talk to you. Please get in touch via our Contact Form.
VCO and Council Partnerships
We are always keen to hear from other voluntary and community organisations that might be interested in partner-working to support our families in temporary accommodation. Equally, we’d love to hear from local authorities who’d be interested in developing our support model in their own temporary accommodation hostels.
Please get in touch if you have any ideas about how we can work together via our Contact Form.
